Another currently established micro-enterprise involves animal husbandry of sheep. This fully-functioning business involves breeding and lambing cycles, best management practices of rotational grazing and pasture management, meat and value-added product development, marketing, relating to customers, and realization of profit. Our operation is using the same breed of sheep (Barbados Blackbelly) as Virginia State University’s small ruminant department, and we have established ongoing interaction with the professors who run their program.
